Robert Damisch, a designer turned photographer.
My photographic journey is highly influenced by my grandparents. They both are educated photographers and worked in former East Germany. A time where different values and ideals have been brought to practise of photography. Their dedication to the craft, the stories, wisdom and critique influenced my personal view on photography and I try to preserve their knowledge through my own work: Revisiting known places, waiting for specific weather conditions, taking time or using light to highlight the character of the subject.
My design education equips me with skills in form, composition, colours, storytelling and concept development. I translate this intimate knowledge into my photographic work, resulting in images that not only showcase the object's aesthetics but also convey the nature of a project.
I am eager to use the creative tools and my personal background to infuse the images I take. With a strong eye for detail I like to create aesthetic, high quality images.
With my work I aim to highlight the cultural value of art, craft and design and offer professional services to artists, design agencies, architects, cultural institutions, galleries, publishers and museums – helping them to showcase and share their work and intentions to a wider audience.
I am based in Copenhagen (DK) but simultaneously work across Europe, always eager to document public art.
